Chickadee

I have come to the understanding that all of life is prayer. Every action, thought, feeling, and experience. I was watching a group of Chickadees today and felt that mysterious peace and connection that one can experience at times. I felt a need to share that with all my active and inactive blogger friends. Question (besides that implied one of is life prayer?) are we called to love ourselves and others as God has loved us? This came to me in a recent prayer. I had some understanding of this as an idea in the past, but now I have an experience of it in prayer and the call is rather intense...it has impacted my dream life and how I view myself and others. I believe that God is answering my questions about many things. Probably has been answering the questions for a while and I have been working on having ears to hear and eyes to see.

Yeah, intense is a good word for it. Intense. In lieu of further repetitious reflection, here's a piece from Douglas Adams on prayer:

"It says in the brochure," said Arthur, pulling it out of his pocket and looking at it again, "that I can have a special prayer, individually tailored to me and my special needs."

"Oh, all right," said the old man. "Here's a prayer for you. Got a pencil?'

"Yes," said Arthur.

"It goes like this. Let's see now: ""Protect me from knowing what I don't need to know. Protect me from even knowing that there are things to know that I don't know. Protect me from knowing that I decided not to know about the things that I decided not to know about. Amen.'' That's it. It's what you pray silently inside yourself anyway, so you may as well have it out in the open.'

"Hmmm," said Arthur. "Well, thank you -"

"There's another prayer that goes with it that's very important,' continued the old man, "so you'd better jot this down, too.'

"OK."

"It goes, ""Lord, lord, lord...'' It's best to put that bit in, just in case. You can never be too sure ""Lord, lord, lord. Protect me from the consequences of the above prayer. Amen...'' And that's it. Most of the trouble people get into in life comes from missing out that last part.'

I don't typically think of Douglas Adams as a theologian, but this seems fairly accurate--not as a norm of how we should pray, but as a description of how we do pray. Although the first doesn't always occur to me: such is the curse of being a 5.

To the Shaman: you asked about my conversion and it sounds like something similar to what you experienced.
And Senor Miro: Douglas Adams not a theologian!? What about the final message of God to creation in giant flaming letters? It's kind of shitty theology, but theology none the less, i guess.

there once was man who watched the chickadees. then he dissapeared from the face of the earth.

WOW! I've been thinking about all the same things... just put up a 7 second poll to gauge how many people experience God this way. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

Please take part, no matter what your experience, and pass the word along, so I can get a good representation.

Thanks for the read, really great!
